What to Expect

Our receptionist will greet you with a smile and register your donation. A staff phlebotomist will perform the screening process including interview and physical. You can expect to answer several questions related to your lifestyle and medical history.

Next you will be given a mini-physical including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and a finger stick to ensure you have an ample amount of iron to safely donate.

Once the screening process is complete you are ready to donate blood. The actual donation usually lasts from 5-10 minutes. The complete process takes about 30-40 minutes.

Every donor is thoroughly screened with each donation in order to keep the blood supply safe.

Donor Eligibility

Some travel, health conditions, or medications may temporarily or permanently prevent persons from donating blood. If you have a question regarding your eligibility to donate blood and would like to discuss it, please call (270) 684-9296 and ask for the Donor Room.

Important: Donors who are sixteen years of age must have a parent or guardian sign the consent form.
